Deploy Hono on Tallrig
Hono is first-class here — Tallrig itself is built with Bun and Hono. Deploy your Hono API as an always-on service with health checks, attach your domain with automatic TLS, and ship every change with a git push.
Sign up with a passkey, Google, or email at tallrig.com/register — no credit card on the free plan. You land in the console with a project ready to fill.
Point a new project at the Git repository that holds your Hono app. Point the project at your server entry (for example src/index.ts exporting your Hono app) — Bun runs TypeScript directly, so there's often no build step at all.
Set the start command to bun run src/index.ts (or your entry file). The service is health-checked and self-healing, with logs, metrics, and a shell built into the dashboard.
Add any secrets your app needs in the project's settings — API keys, database URLs, feature flags. They're stored encrypted and injected at build and run time, so nothing sensitive lives in your repository.
Run git push. Every push to your default branch is built and deployed, with live build logs. Pull-request previews are in preview: a webhook builds the branch at its own URL, managed by our operators for now.
Attach a custom domain and TLS is issued automatically. Your service gets a per-IP rate limit at our gateway; per-route limits and WAF rules in front of it are coming soon, so keep those in your Hono middleware for now.
Hono on Tallrig — frequently asked questions
Does Tallrig run Hono natively?
Yes — Tallrig's own services are built with Bun and Hono, so your Hono app runs on the same runtime the platform runs on, as an always-on, health-checked service.
Can I rate-limit my Hono API?
Yes. Every app gets a per-IP rate limit at our gateway, and per-route limits go in your Hono middleware today; per-route limits and WAF rules in front of your service are coming soon.
Do pull requests get preview deployments?
In preview. A pull-request webhook builds the branch at its own shareable URL and tears it down when the pull request closes; previews are managed by our operators today, with no customer-side view yet.
Where do my environment variables live?
In your project's encrypted secrets, scoped per environment. They're injected at build and run time, and you can import an existing .env in one paste during onboarding.
